Gift Wrap

A Woodland-Chic Contemporary Christmas

I recently gave up my full-time job to start Lovely Event Planning, a long time dream and exciting new adventure! With my new found free time, I decided to begin a creative exploration and start a blog.

Welcome to my first post! I hope to offer helpful event planning tips, explore DIY projects and highlight everyday inspiration to get your creative juices flowing for your next party.

My most recent project: preparing for Christmas, my favorite holiday! I am a hard-core traditional Christmas decor lover. I live for mistletoe, white twinkle lights, cardinals, cranberries and fresh garland, but this year I decided to do something a little different. During my shopping travels at Home Goods, a few interesting patterns caught my eye. Given my recent, bold decision to start a business, I figured why not be a little bold with my Christmas decor

Creative development is often sparked by 'one thing', creating a flood of ideas. With some time and determined searching, inspiration turned into results. I spied red flannel gift wrap, which set-off trendy, cozy feelings. A true city girl, black is by far my favorite color and making black the centerpiece of a Christmas style seemed like just the right challenge! After digging through piles of gift wrap, noticing a reindeer, black velvet ribbon and a few gold elements, a theme was born! It was admittedly a bit self-inspired, reflective of an artful combination of my soulful New York City style and my heartfelt Westchester home. With true Christmas vibes of warmth & comfort at the forefront, edgy, deer-filled woodland met chic black & gold for a unique, non-traditional Christmas style.

After about 135 minutes of searching every shelf in Home Goods and traveling to a nearby TJ MAXX to complete the collection, it was time to create!

I picked a variety of papers, garnering plenty of ribbon, bows, bags & trim. Having never made a bow in my life, I leaned on Pinterest tutorials, turned on my favorite Christmas movie and started crafting.

TIP :  Don't be afraid to play! Use a variety of pattern combinations until the right one sticks!

The results: success! I'm just about halfway through gift wrapping and I'm already seeing fun & contemporary results! Check out the goods below:

A plethora of combinations, filled with Christmas cheer (and a dash of humor!).  Below are some of my favorites: TIP : add a little tape for perfect ribbon bends and trinket placement.

Of course, everything that truly inspires me leads to a Pinterest board to keep in the memory files for future event themes. This week's sparked a cozy, chic winter wedding board - be sure to check it out!

Until next time!

xoxo,
